I am so pleased with this purchase! I was worried about the fit after reading reviews of other styles, and this being my first pair of Frye boots, but these fit pretty well. I wear either an 8 1/2 or 9, depending on style, so I ordered the 9 and put them on right away when they arrived, wore them for 6 hours around the house & no problems with sore feet or rubbing so far. My hubby thought I looked pretty good in them with my levi's skinny jeans, lol!

The reason I picked these boots was the zip; I wanted a taller boot, but didn't want to struggle getting my calfs into a boot without a zip. These fit my calf perfectly, even with skinny jeans tucked in. The taller shaft will work both with jeans & short skirts, which is exactly what I wanted. The Maple color is unique and quite nuetral. The price with Amazon prime was also the best I could find with free shipping.

These boots are absolutely awesome! The quality is, well they're Frye boots so the name really speaks for itself. They are so comfortable with super smooth, soft, supple leather. Most boots have that kind of stack heel which when you are wearing them all day is not very comfortable. These boots have the perfect heel even if your on your feet all day like me. I have big calves and was worried that these boots would be to snug or not fit at all in this area (which is usually the case with boots for me). These were perfect though. Size runs VERY TRUE so don't go up or down even a half size or these won't fit. Don't let the price of these dissuade you from buying them. They are very well worth the price if you have the money.

These are awesome boots! I was looking for a boot to wear 3-seasons (in Maine) without looking either too dressy or too much like a work boot. These boots are perfect: so comfortable, easy to get on/off, soft but not too slouchy shaft, true to size (I have a wide foot and my standard size 10 fits great), exceptionally well made, beautiful with a pair of jeans (I'm not a skirt gal, but I think you'd want a higher shaft to wear with short skirts), and just enough of an edge to make them sexy too. I like the slightly higher heel height and the rounded toe compared to the other Frye Harness boots (not clunky either like the classic Harness boots can tend to be). My only critique is that the leather is SO distressed they can look a bit dry (I gave my pair a long drink of leather oil before wearing them). Now they look perfectly broken-in & healthy on the first day I've worn them.

So comfy, so classic stylish....I get tons of compliments. These ain't your sissy italian boots - these are as americana as they come. May as well be super glued to my feet. Order it 1/2 size smaller than your normal size.

Oh, and get it from [...] if you're afraid of it not fitting, since they have free shipping both ways. I think I can say that on Amazon now that they bought Zappo's. :) But I think I can confidently say you won't be returning these, unless you don't have the income to cover the child support bills that will result.

I'm 5'5'' and these boots are not for anyone petite. They came up to my knee and they run HUGE!! I am normally a size 8, but after scooting my foot up all the way to the front of the shoe I could still fit my fist in. If you are petite and you do not have large calves these shoes are not for you. The opening is very large. It is for someone taller I'd say 5'8'' and above. However, quality of shoe is very good and I love the look I just wish they would make them for shorter people. I returned them and am still searching for the perfect brown boots :(

I bought these boots at a local department store on sale. While still more than I usually spend on boots, I have to say they were worth every penny. Gorgeous leather and craftmanship. I got the dark brown. They run true to size but are a bit narrow by the toe. The shaft will easily fit your jeans but they aren't bulky looking. These boots are high and come up to my knee. They are comfy and look great over skinny jeans. I've gotten tons of compliments. I think they run a little big and there is quite a bit of room in the calf, but I think that looks good with jeans. Great Boots! Real quality leather and I love the curry color because they are not the usual black or brown. Sizing was a bit narrow so i would size up 1/2 size especially if your foot is not narrow. i do not wear wide shoes ever but I feel like my foot is on the wide side. The 7 I ordered felt like my bone was being crushed but the 7 1/2 was great and didn't add much length at all. There is not really a "break in period", which i do not believe really exists with any shoes, if they hurt at first they will always hurt. They do take some getting used to, but once the leather softens they are like butter. Get em'!

I rarely purchase shoes online because fit is a gamble, but I wanted a good quality boot to have for years. Based on reputation and reviews, I knew Frye would fit the bill. I took the chance and ordered them, a half size smaller per some reviewers. They came in the day before a business trip to NYC. I thought it might be a bad idea, but I couldn't help but wear them (we were casual dress that day). I wore them from 4:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Day One. I went to the airport, pulled them off for security, flew from Boston to NY, walked a few city blocks, sat in a conference room all day, walked some more to dinner, took a cab back to the airport and got the last flight home. How did it go? Fantastic! When I put them on the day before, there was a slight pinch near my pinkie toe, but within two hours, the leather had adapted and I've never felt it since. The boots were comfortable all day long, and every day since. The quality of the leather and sole is excellent. I can tell that these boots will be with me for many years. Thanks Frye.

I did listen to all the advice and ordered down 1/2 size. They are so tight, and it appears I should not count on them stretching out. The banana color was gorgeous, I was so in love with them I re-ordered up 1/2 size and they fit perfectly. Problem is the new ones that fit are more orange, and they have TERRIBLY pronounced dark orange stripes going through the leather on the shaft, and I planned to wear them with skirts. One boot is way worse than the other, they don't look like a pair. I am fully aware that leather has imperfections, but these look defective. I have waited a long time to spend this kind of money on my dream boots, now I am not sure I want to risk ordering again.

Just received my order today and I am in LOVE. I was a bit scared to order shoes over the internet, but I called a million stores and couldn't find these boots anywhere. Summer is here so....First I will say to follow the advice and definitely order a half-size smaller than you would normally wear. I didn't listen and ended up having to deal with returning the first pair, which was annoying. My fault though for not listening. I own a pair of Frye Daisy Dukes, and those are a half-size smaller than my normal size so I should have known better. Anyway, these boots are exactly what I hoped they would be. I got mine in saddle. The color is gorgeous. I was worried about them being too orange-y, but they are not orange at all. The leather is beautiful and so is the wooden heel. I was suprised that the heel was finished and shiny. And the boots are lighter than I was expecting them to be. They are no heavier than other boots I own. They were comfortable the first time I wore them. I love them so much I am wearing them around the house right now. I don't want to take them off. I will definitely be planning my outfits around these boots for weeks to come. If you are on the fence, I would highly recommend getting a pair. They look rugged, but they feel exquisite when you slip them on! My friends are gonna be super jealous when they see these.

I purchased my Campus boots in banana after four months of coveting and six months of wearing my Frye Harness boots every day. I am 5'7", average build, and wear a 10.5 or 11, normally. The Frye Campus fit me perfectly from day one. (Even more comfortably than the Harness boots.) Just a finger or two extra width in the calf makes them slide on or off easily enough, the leather is incredibly supple, and extra rubber on the heel base will help it last. While there is padding and some arch support, I would recommend getting a nice pair of insoles for people who are on their feet alot. It really makes the boots unbeatable. Great for a little more height, works with dresses or jeans, fall through spring!

Went to Nordstrom's to search for boots. Wanted to try something new (i.e., boots) and these seemed very masculine. And apparently popular with women. Better yet, still made in the USA.

The beginning comfort is amazing for boots. Five stars because of the price. Other, smaller boots at Nordstroms cost much more.

Nordstrom seems to be discontinuing the 12R harness models and coming out with a shorter, more expensive, and harder to put on boot. Get these, not those --- they're better and THE Classic. Nordstrom did have a size 9 Medium at 30% off. An excellent price. It seemed a little long for me but gorgeous in chestnut. So, I just ordered and received an 8 1/2 Wide gaucho color pair (which seems to be the famous color). It only took one day to arrive at the house from another vendor (free shipping). Neither with tax.

My first thought is that the 8 1/2 W fits me better and is harder to find. And it should stretch with time. Then again, the Chestnut looks sharper with a sort of shiny brown, black toe (I might change my mind with time). It's actually easier to put on and off (neither has been broken in yet). I'm leaning towards the gaucho as most seem to prefer it and it fits like a glove and should get even better with time. Interestingly, the size 9 Chestnut has an extra watch band type piece of leather in the back which allows one to loosen the boot to ease putting it on and off.

Either one of these is an American Classic and, of course, comfort and correct size should be key. The Wide boots are definitely available --- although not at some stores, including Nordstrom.

Buy one in case they discontinue it or change it or increase the price. Given the quality, that they're benchmade, and the amount of leather, get these now!

Nothing goes better with jeans. And, if you're short, they effortlessly, comfortably and elegantly add an inch to your height.

These will last a long time and become winter wear for me for years (I don't yet know if they would be hot in the summer.) The chestnut is a shinier leather and heavier while the gaucho is more like a lighter weight suede. Neither is lined. Great for a motorcycle (compared to sneakers). Even better for fashion, dependability and pride of ownership. I supect women will like these as much as I do.

The only difficulty I encountered with ordering these boots is sizing as I was unable to find any vendors in Hawaii to actually try a pair on. The best that I can do to help is to tell you that these boots follow closely the sizing of Army issued boots. I ordered a half-size up just in case and use an insert to make the fit perfect. This is not needed as the boots are very comfortable without the insert if you purchase the right size.

Every other part of the experience is greatly positive.

The boots are solid and well constructed. The black and gaucho colors are all I can vouch for with my own eyes, but are both very attractive. The leather comes pliable already, which is great for comfort immediately.

One of the surprising pleasures was how fast these boots arrived. Amazon gave me a 6 day window about 4 or 5 days out from when I ordered and the boots arrived both times before the window had even opened.

I would recommend these boots to friends and family. Not that I would have to as I've already received compliments and inquiries about where to buy them.

These are great boots. As others have said, they look great and are definitely cool. I was a little concerned when I first put them on. I read on other sites that they do not stretch. They do. And, the leather softens up. It will take a while, though, and the stretching is minimal. Don't go a size small, but if they feel snug, wear them around the house. I've probably got about 10 full days of wear on mine now and they have become quite comfortable. Not as much as my faithful Blundstones, but still quite comfortable.

These are my second pair of frye boots (I have the belted harness in brown). I think I may like these a little more. I cannot wait to wear these out. The quality, the style, the fit and comfort... everything about this boot has made it #1 in my book. I own 5 pairs of boots, and this is by far; my favorite! These boots did not require a "break-in" period, as I wore these boots for the first time today, all day long. I did not end up with blisters or sores. These boots took care of my feet. In my opinion; they run true to size. I wear an 8, but ordered an 8.5, so that I could wear them with thick boot socks. They are perfect! Thank you!

I ordered the Frye Women's Engineer boot twice. I returned the first because one boot was defective. My daughter could not get her foot in one boot. We reordered and the boot was once again irregular. One boot was wider than the other. It was easy to see when they were together. The heel on one boot did not sit flat, while the other did. The shaft on one boot was noticeably shorter than the other. I was very disappointed. We did not expect irregular boots for the price ($210) that we were paying.

Frye is world-renown for shoes, made in the good ol' US of A. They're not only commendable in quality but durability and versatility. Wear them with skirts, pants, even shorts, and you'll be looking good year round.

The Engineer 12R Boot-Gaucho is the only Frye boot I own that I actually got the the size I usually wear, rather than the half size larger I usually have to order them in. That's because the toe is rounded, rather than the typical box toe that Frye is know for and allows for my wide feet, and fits easily and comfortably.

With the arch support and cushioned sole, and the lightness of the boot is the second thing you'll notice, after admiring the wonderful, thick leather, and the two buckles that help with fit over the foot and around the top. The buckle for the calf area is sewn in parts, with a lip attached to the side to give the wearer a tighter or looser fit, and it will fray. I've only had these for about ten months, and I had to have my shoe repair guy resew that strap back into place. No biggie. The cost will vary, like getting the heel replaced, so shop around, make friends with a reliable shoe repair person. Fixing minor failings and heel replacements are necessary when the leather will far outlast other parts of the shoe, thought it shouldn't be a heavy burden--just regular maintenance on a shoe that'll last you for decades.

The leather is nice rich mahogany color, and will scuff, but it won't look bad and will eventually fade. Most of the Frye boots are notoriously heavy, and can chafe the toes and heel as a result. You won't get that from this boot, it's made for specifically for comfort. They're 12R but they're actually slightly lower in front and rise slightly upward at and angle at the back of the calf. Subtle, but clean. The thick heel is cushy and give good traction (especially in snow and ice), and easily replaceable when the time comes--so, as I always say, make friends with the nearest shoe repairman,or woman! They can also treat the leather for weather or to just clean them up when they get dirty, or to soften the leather, but I just use saddlesoap every once in a while and make sure they get a good clean here and there.

I wear them with any kind of sock, but ones that a bit slippery since there are no handles to tug on to get them on if you wear thicker socks.

All in all, if you got distance to walk in, this boot is perfect, you'll look good walking all the way there!

The Carson Pull is sexy, stylish and oh so soft. It fits perfectly. There is enough room for my toes to wiggle around. It fits nicely around my calf not baggy like most. The only thing I would change is... I will be ordering a pair of custom foot orthotics for it. I was looking for the perfect boot for a long time and I believe this is it. The problem is the price. It is rather expensive. Would I buy it again? Most likely or I'll get a Carson Shortie. The boot I have is the color "natural". The burnt red and plum look fun.

Yes, like most of you out there I have been admiring these boots for about a year now, hoping to find the deal of the century. I thought perhaps I would find something similar at Nine West, but there's no comparison. Finally, after being so hesistant about the money $$$$ and trying to forget these boots, although, I just couldn't let go of them! They haunted me at night! I own a pair of Frye's and the quality is impeccable. These days most of us are a lot more cautious on how we spend our money, but I have never been more in love with these boots!!!! Amazon has never let me down! Frye has never let me down! UPS has never let me down! They arrived UPS and the shipping was fast! They fit perfectly true to size and they are sooooooo comfortable. The leather is butter soft and the padding feels nice inside. I have average size calves since I do work out and they fit loose. The straps are adjustable. If you have been admiring these boots, do yourself the favor and just buy them! I bought them in the black, size 7. The first day, I wore them over skinny jeans with no problem. I hope my review was able to help some of you ladies out there! Treat yourself to these!!!

I had been torturing myself for about a year concerning buying a $300+ pair of boots. I looked for something similar in every store I went into, but found nothing. I finally decided to just buy them when I found them on Amazon for $285. I received them, and put them on right out of the box. I could not believe how good they felt. Usually boots take a few days to break in before I can wear them at work for 10 hours. It took a few days for the shaft to really slouch, but now they are perfect. I don't think I have put another pair of shoes on my feet since I received them.

So there is no need for introducing the Frye household name. They make wondrous boots, and this was my first pair so I was expecting A LOT. They have lived up to it. The right boot was hard for me to put on at first but once you're in, you're in and it feels great. They were a bit heavy since I'm used to wearing lighter boots and I didn't expect these flat boots to be so heavy. But they are made to be sturdy and I love that about them! They are comfortable and the leather became supple once I've worn them a couple times. They look great with shorts, leggings, skinnies, whatever you want! I got them in black in a 6.5 when I usually wear 7.

The boot is fantastic!!! The fit is true to size though a little tight on one foot but not uncomfortable. The shoe is leather so i am sure once it is broken in they will be absolutely perfect. Frye are primo boots and they'll last a lifetime. I bought this style in black and brown but had to send them both back. It's not the fault of the boot, which is an amazing piece of footwear; it's just that my feet are too wide! So, until Frye makes a wide-sized boot it looks like I'm limited to the $15 no-name faux leather variety. BooHoo for me but WooHoo for you if you've got normal feet -- these boots rock!

This is my second pair of Frye boots and they don't disappoint. I bought the sunrise color and it is beautiful, it will look great with a lot of my wardrobe. I normally wear an 8 1/2 or 9 and purchased these in an 8 1/2, the fit is perfect. the calves are a little tight but I have very althletic calves so that's not a surprise. I'm wearing them around the house to see if i can stretch them out, if not i will take them in to a cobbler. Overall a beautiful boot that I highly recommend. and they are Frye, which means they will last forever!

I got these boots and have been wearing them just about every weekend non-stop for months now. Lots of compliments.

They look great with skirts or over skinny jeans. Perfect for a girls' night out, comfortable, a little edgy but still dressy. I've worn them to the park for impromptu picnics and then to an evening out at the local bar.

Pros:

- Beautiful, classic style.

- Sturdy construction, good craftsmanship. Been wearing them for months now and no issues at all.

- Easy to break in.

- Heel is perfect height, not too high, not too low, and very comfortable to walk in.

Cons:

- With the sturdy construction comes a little weight. These are not lightweight boots but no worse than some of my other Frye boots.

I know they'll last me for years and years to come. Very happy with them.

These are great boots. Sturdy and slightly clunky, but without being too casual or manly. The toe is rounded, but not as blunt as the Campus boots, making these more versatile and classic. The heel height is manageable, even if you walk a lot. Be prepared for a long-ish break-in period as these boots are made of thick, real leather, including the soles. A little slippage in the heel area is a good thing. It'll go away once you've broken these in. I found these boots to be true to size. I initially ordered them a half-size smaller after reading a number of reviews here and elsewhere, but found them to be WAY too tight and nearly impossible to put on. Definitely go with your normal shoe size unless you happen to have very narrow feet and thin calves (I have normal width feet and athletic calves). I might have to get the shaft stretched a little so that I can tuck jeans into these, but otherwise I'm very happy with my purchase. I can tell right away that I'll be wearing these for years.
